Mother
Ollie Irvin
1872 - 1914
She is the only one in this grouping that had a name on the stone the rest just had dates. Sadly they were all children.
Infant
1894
This would have been the First born and first one lost when Ollie was 22 years old.
1904 - 1907
Thied chiled born but lose number two at 35 years old. This child was 3years old.
1895 - 1908
This child was born the year after the lose of the first child. But was the third child to die.
This child was 13 years old and Ollie was 36.
1906 - 1909
This would be her fourth child born and her fourth one she lost. Dying at 3 years old. Ollie was 37.
1914 - 1914
This was the fifth and last child born. I'm making a guess and saying Ollie most likly died during child birth because the death dates are the same. Ollie was 42 years old.
Just imagine how hard it must have been to have five children over a span of 20 years and lose them all. Not to mention losing 3 children in 3 years. Such a sad thing to have to endure.
I can't even begin to imagine how these mothers must have felt. To have it happen repeatedly, must have been so heart breaking and so emotionally upsetting. I recently did some research for a distant cousin, one of his female ancestors had 12 children within a 19 year span and only 3 survived. She died at the age of 44.
ReplyDeleteI know it had to be heart breaking for these women. I wonder how much of it had to with the Rh factors.
ReplyDeleteI know I've said it before, but no name is so very sad, it's as though they have lost their identity...........
