Nearly Lost But Saved - Horsley Cemetery

Horsley Cemetery, established in 1873 last burial 1912, is located on the corner of Dixieland and Persimmon in Rogers, AR. It is a sad little cemetery that was nearly lost at one time.  Even thou it sits on the corner of a very busy street, for a number of years, you would have never known it was there. It was vandalized leaving many of the stones in pieces. At times the grass and weeds were so tall you couldn't tell it was a cemetery. Until it was cleaned up in 1982 - 1983.  From that point on it has been well mowed and maintained.  The stones have never been repaired but a Restoration Stone was placed with a burial list near the gate. This stone contains most of the names but not all that are buried here.  Many of the names on the list have markers and many do not.  I also found a few stones whose name was not on the list.

A Nearly Lost Cemetery - Old Holcomb Cemetery

Old Holcomb Cemetery in Springdale, AR.

This cemetery sits in a lot surrounded by houses on all sides and if you look between the houses you can see the High School. So it is not in a remote out of the way place.  It is mowed but as far as being maintained, its not.  According to the website Historic Washington County Arkansas an effort is underway by the Pendleton Chapter of Daughters of the American Colonists to have the City of Springdale "claim ownership of this cemetery so that it may be honorably preserved.."  But as of 2010 it continues to be forgotten.

Another Cemetery Being Lost

This is part of Walker Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR located across the road from the Confederate Cemetery. They have clean part up but have not even bothered with this part.  And it Appears that people have been dumping cut limbs in on top of the markers.  Such a sad thing. You can see some large monuments in it, you can see one in this photo.  And the nice fence work can be seen as well.

A Forgotten Cemetery

I discovered this little cemetery while driving. I had to stop and take pictures. I find it very sad that they keep up all the area around it but don't bother to take care of the cemetery.

This is Kindley Cemetery, located in Little Flock, AR.  It is a family plot with one stone that has four names on it.
