Morgan Family

While walking through Blagg Cemetery This row of stones caught my eye.  All Six stones had the same inscription. Sadly none were given names.  So of course I had to go looking for answers.

Nearly Gone - Baptist Cemetery Aka Old Baptist

I recently visited Baptist Cemetery aka Old Baptist in Siloam Springs Arkansas that is nearly gone. The cemetery itself sits in the side yard of someones house.  It is mowed but not exactly maintained. From the little information I can find on this cemetery there are some 40 to 50 headstones missing. The following are the stones that are left.

This shows an aerial view of Hico Cemetery and Baptist. I only have one question, why would they fix up Hico but not touch Baptist.  I find this odd.

Baptist Cemetery
Those who will not pass
This way again
They had faith in God
And have left hope in us.

There is one fenced plot that has a number of stone inside of it.
The fenced plot is in the group of trees.  This photo shows how close it sits to a house.

Hico Cemetery

I came across this interesting looking cemetery today and thought it was worth sharing.

Hico Cemetery in Siloam Springs, AR.
It is laid out with the cemetery sign in the center and all the headstones in a circle around it. Very much like a rock garden. It sits next to an empty field that still has a few field stones visible here and there.  The grave markers are dated from the mid 1840s to the early 1900s. From the ones I can read 1843 is the earliest burial and 1908 was the latest burial. Sadly the stones are in pretty rough shape.
Hico Cemetery
Dedicated as an expression of
Appreciation to the devotion and
Sound principles upon which
Hico and Siloam City were founded.

Erected by the Hico Cemetery
Association, The Jaycees and Friends.

1976

From the moment I laid eyes on it I wondered why it was laid out in a circle. After doing a little research I got my answer.

According to http://www.arkansasgravestones.org/ an entry by wfields55 states the following.
At Hico Cemetery the grave stones are in a circle, but the graves are still in the yard surrounding the circle. Foot stones and the bases for the headstones are still visible in some places. As I understand it, in the early 1970s the city moved the grave stones from Hico Cemetery to Oak Hill Cemetery in order to reduce vandalism. Outraged citizens then formed the Hico Cemetery Association to raise funds to bring the stones back, but there was no way to know which grave each stone should mark, so they were placed in a circle around the memorial monument.

Famous File: Felice Orlandi

Located at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, AR.
After his death his ashes were scattered under an orange tree in the backyard of his and Alice's home. Upon the death of his wife this Centopha was added to the back of Alice and Glady's gravestone for him.

Who was Felice Orlandi? Good question, sadly finding information on him has been rather challenging.  Being famous and having stared in a number of movies and TV shows there sure isn't much on the net about him. Mostly all I can find is "married to Alice Ghostley" and a list of roles he played.

This is the description i found on Life in Legacy - Actor who appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows like the films “Bullitt”, “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?”, “Catch-22” and “Another 48 Hours”, and TV shows like “Hogan’s Heros”, “Dallas” and “Gunsmoke”, and who was the husband of actress Alice Ghostley

He does have a Find A Grave memorial.

I did locate Felice's obit but it's not much.
